Captain Pirx Is Pigmenting


The next chapter begins in the life of Captain Pirx. After 2 years daily driving a “full” restauration starts. No, it is not full, not even half full. I do not see the reason of making too much change. If the paintwork would have not been gone due to UV and heat of sun I would not even make any. But the body is lacking of lot of pigments and protection of paint and I want to keep the car for ever or more.

In order to make a good start the project is already started with a nice, 1300km long drive from my home to my other home. This is what this car made for. Driving long roads. Whatever speed you wish. It can go easy on highways over limit. Luckily Germany has no limit at very many on their highways and surprisingly this thing could keep up with the latest creation of car makers too, even in the inside lane. It has a little dead steering but all in all it gives a firm ground touching feeling. The German highways famous not only from limitless rush and overtaking by 200km/h but also congestion of traffic, the so called “stau” is also part of it. I have got to split from the highway many times on my way due to the stau-s. The good thing with the ZX is that also nice to cruise the land roads. It is firm but not too much and so comfy.

Before the big ride I contacted one of my schoolmate from high school and he gave me another contact where the work can be done. We made a couple of calls and finally I delivered the car. At the first place to my Hungarian home, spending summer holiday there. I was lucky to be able to travel again to Hungary in the autumn. I could deliver the car fully after some months waiting for the agreed date. The final delivery was planned to be done by a trailer but because I could be there I could make the drive with my plate. Finally I gave it over to the owner of the classic car care garage. Now it sits at that place in Hungary.

Chronologically, for now, when I am writing this, a little “ironing” work is done already on the front right fender and underneath, no worth to make any big deal of it. It took some days for the body worker. After a half-full disassembly now it is under the preparation of paintwork.

According to the plan after the painting is done a longer period is coming with full assembly and other preventive, nice to be done-s and must to be done-s.



 Four weeks gone and a little development again. 

It looks a little step but quite a lot of handwork done.
